Connecting your PurelyMail account
How to create an app password in PurelyMail and connect it to Hatched Mail.
Why an app password?
Hatched Mail connects to your PurelyMail mailbox using IMAP and SMTP. For security, PurelyMail requires a separate app password for mail clients — this is different from your regular PurelyMail login password.
App passwords are revocable, so you can cut off access to any mail client at any time without changing your main password. Your app password is encrypted with AES-256-GCM when stored by Hatched Mail.
Step 1 — Log in to PurelyMail
Go to purelymail.com/manage and sign in with your PurelyMail email and password.
Don't have a PurelyMail account yet? Sign up at purelymail.com/signup — it starts at $10/year with a free trial.
Step 2 — Go to Security settings
In the PurelyMail dashboard, click Account in the sidebar, then scroll down to the App Passwords section.
You can also go directly to purelymail.com/manage/security.
Step 3 — Create a new app password
Click the "Create App Password" button. Give it a name likeHatched Mailso you remember what it's for.
PurelyMail will generate a long random password. Copy it — you won't be able to see it again after you close the dialog.
Step 4 — Paste it into Hatched Mail
Go to your Hatched Mail Settings page (or the connection screen if you just signed up). Enter:
- Email address: Your full PurelyMail email (e.g.
you@yourdomain.com) - Password: The app password you just copied (not your PurelyMail login password)
Click Connect. Hatched Mail will verify the connection and start syncing your inbox. This usually takes a few seconds.
Adding multiple accounts
On the Lifetime plan, you can connect unlimited PurelyMail accounts. Go to Settings → Add another account and repeat the process above with a different email and app password.
On the Free plan, you can connect 1 email account. Upgrade to Lifetime ($79 USD, one-time) to add more.
Revoking access
If you ever want to cut off Hatched Mail's access to your mailbox:
- Go to purelymail.com/manage/security
- Find the app password labeled "Hatched Mail"
- Click Revoke or Delete
Hatched Mail will no longer be able to read or send email from that account. You can create a new app password and reconnect at any time.
